Turns out, America doesn’t have a monopoly on mishegoss. On Wednesday, German law enforcement carried out a series of raids, arresting 25 individuals involved in a plot to overthrow the government and install a new kaiser. The plot involved sabotaging the electrical grid, enlisting the Russians, storming the German parliament and executing the current chancellor. The leader of the plot appears to be 71-year-old Heinrich XIII Prince Reuss, an antisemite and the last descendent of a dynasty that ruled part of eastern Germany before the country was unified in the late 19th century. Most disturbing, the plotters included an active duty soldier, a former officer in the elite special forces, a police officer and two reservists
Peruvian President Pedro Castillo is under arrest this morning after a failed coup attempt. Peru’s Congress was preparing to impeach Castillo on Wednesday on corruption charges when he announced he was dissolving the legislature and would rule by decree. The move was denounced by political leaders across the spectrum and Castillo was arrested a short time afterwards
In Trump news, more classified materials were discovered by a company hired by Trump’s legal team to search Trump properties in New York, New Jersey and Florida. The two items were found in a storage unit in West Palm Beach among thousands of pounds of flotsam that had been transported from a facility in Northern Virginia to the storage locker in Florida. None of the materials in the West Palm storage locker had been cataloged and the classified materials were just laying around, much as they were in Mar-a-Lago
